Orlando-area population rises despite slump
A trudging economy and an ongoing housing slump have caused Florida's
growth to sputter in recent years, but the central part of the state is
still showing significant increases, new census data reveal.
Central Florida's seven-county region grew in population by 1.7 percent
last year, which is less than its 2.6 percent growth of the previous year
but still better than the state's overall 1.1 percent population increase
from 2006 to 2007.
