Follow the falling dollar for holiday value
Families could enjoy a holiday in America for £500 less than a similar
trip to Europe, because of the rise in the value of the euro and the plunge
in the dollar.
The figures come as sterling continued to fall against the euro, forcing up
the cost of holidays across the Continent for British travellers.
Because of tax and fuel surcharges, many flights from the UK to America
remain more expensive than flights to Europe. However, the cost of
accommodation, food and days out in France has started to climb sharply for
British travellers just as many start to plan their summer holidays. These
increased costs wipe out any advantage from the cheap flights.
